How it works

No mystery, no jargon, no surprises on the invoice.

You have probably dealt with someone in this industry who made it sound complicated. That is usually a sign the person either does not understand it themselves or would rather you did not. Here is the whole thing, plainly.

The four stages

Every piece of work runs in this order. How long each takes depends on your business, and I will give you a real estimate once I have looked — not before.

  1. LookFind out how you actually show up

I go through your business the way a customer would: search for you, look you up, try to contact you. Then I tell you exactly where people are dropping off.

  2. FixRepair the leaks first

Before adding anything new, we fix what is already costing you work — an unclear message, a listing nobody has claimed, a contact form nobody answers.

  3. Follow upStop losing the enquiries you already get

Most small businesses do not have a traffic problem. They have a follow-up problem. We make sure every call, form and message gets a fast, consistent reply.

  4. RepeatTurn what worked into a system

Once something works twice, it should not depend on you remembering it. We write it down, and automate only the parts that genuinely should be automated.

Getting started, step by step

  1. You take the Presence Check

Ten questions, about three minutes, free, and no call required. You see the result straight away. If you would rather skip it and just talk, that is fine too.

  2. I look at your business properly

If you ask for the written version, I go through it manually — searching for you, opening your site on a phone, submitting your own contact form to see where it lands. Then I write up what I find.

  3. We talk for about half an hour

I tell you what I would do first and why, what it involves, and roughly what it would take. If I think you do not need me, or that you should spend the money elsewhere, I will say that instead.

  4. You get it in writing before anything starts

What is being done, what it costs, and what you get at the end. Nothing begins until you have agreed to that. There is no long contract to sign to get started.

  5. The work happens, and you can see it

You get regular updates in plain language, not a report full of terms designed to make it sound harder than it is. If something is not working, you hear it from me first.

  6. You get handed the keys

Everything in your accounts, in your name, with written instructions. Whether you carry on with me afterwards is genuinely your choice — nothing is built in a way that makes leaving difficult.

What I will and will not do

I will

  • Tell you if I think you do not need what you came asking for
  • Explain everything in language you can repeat to someone else
  • Put everything in your name, in your accounts
  • Measure it, so we can both see whether it worked
  • Tell you when something has not worked
  • Fix the cheap problems before selling you the expensive ones

I will not

  • Promise you a specific number of leads or a ranking position
  • Put software into your business because it is impressive
  • Hold your website or accounts hostage
  • Lock you into a long contract to get started
  • Show you client logos or reviews I have not earned
  • Rebuild something that only needed rewording

Questions about the process

How long does a project take?

It depends on what we are doing, and I would rather scope it honestly than quote you a number here that I would then have to defend. Presence work is generally the quickest to show a difference. Systems work takes longer because most of it is understanding your business before anything gets built.

Do I have to commit to everything at once?

No, and I would advise against it. Doing one thing properly and seeing whether it made a difference beats doing three things at once and not knowing which one worked.

Who am I actually dealing with?

Me. I run this myself, so the person who does your Presence Check is the person doing the work and the person answering your email. There is no account manager and no handover to somebody you have not met.

What if it is not working?

Then we say so and change course. Everything gets measured from the start specifically so that this is a conversation about numbers rather than a difference of opinion. I would rather stop something that is not working than keep billing for it.

What do you need from me?

Access to your accounts, honest answers about your customers, and reasonably prompt decisions when I ask for one. The last of those is the one that most often slows a project down.
